Melissa Miesen is a licensed acupuncturist, a 2002 graduate of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, a 1995 graduate of the Oregon School of Massage, and a third generation Oregonian.
The mission of Melissa's treatments is to provide thorough and integrative health care with rehabilitation and injury prevention modalities and to promote wellness, education, balance, and empowerment for each individual.
Melissa uses several modalities during her treatments: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture, Kiiko Matsumoto style acupuncture, Master Tung's acupuncture, electrical stimulation acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, infrared heat and ice therapy. Prescription of herbal formulas, therapeutic exercises or Iyengar yoga poses are also standard in a treatment. Melissa specializes in deep tissue, trigger point, myofascial release, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) which may be applied during treatments to augment the acupuncture when needed. Melissa has extensive clinical experience treating such conditions as headaches, back pain, musculoskeletal dysfunction, arthritis, anxiety, sleep disturbance, allergies, PMS, fertility, hypertension, gastrointestinal conditions, addictions, and autoimmune conditions.
